Why a Diesel Vehicle only?

Today the demand for diesel engines is rising rapidly because of its fuel economy which is much more better than gas. It is simply because these (diesel) engines don’t need to burn as much fuel as gasoline engines need to get the same amount of power.  Diesel engines are built heavier than gas engines, to help sustain the added stress of the much higher compression ratios.

There is no ignition system in diesel engines that will comfort you as you will never have  to tune them up. Moreover exhaust on a diesel is not as corrosive as of gasoline engine therefore it will last longeras well.

Normally diesel engines can go upto 400,000 or even 500,000 miles but in some cases they also go beyond 600,000 miles!

With the maintenance point of view, after every 3,000 mile oil must be changed. Diesel fuel isn’t as refined as gas, that is why oil will get dirtier faster in compare of gas. Diesel vehicle owner should also replace the air and fuel filters at least once a year.

The another point to take care is, if you are in a colder climate, your vehicle must be switched to a winter blend in order to prevent fuel gelling. There are several additives that you can put in the fuel as well, to help prevent your fuel from getting gel.

Don’t forget to replace the glow plugs every two years. If the temperature drops below 10 degrees, a block heater is something you should have.  This will ensure starting in cold weather, especially with the heavy grade of oil that a diesel engine requires.

A little care, if you can do with diesel vehicles, you can count on it to be around for years to come. These variety of engines are built for the long haul unlike the gas engines. They will accompany you for miles and miles provided you care them.
