Cost
There is a high compression ratio in diesel engines which results in high cylinder presure, they must be built to withstand a lot more punishment than gas engines. The internal designing of parts in diesel engines include a thicker block and cylinder heads, piston, crankshaft, and valves are not such cheaper.

On the other hand, with the view of cost gas engine is much more economical than diesel engine. That is one of the main reason why people preffer gas over diesel.

Fuel cost
The fuel diesel is of lower price than gas because it is easier to refine and taking less time to get from raw petroleum to final product. However in United States, it(diesel) is priced same as gas or bit below than gas.

Noise and vibration
With diesel engines this is the main problem that it sounds louder and vibrate well. However many improvements have been made in last 10 years, but it couldn’t compete gasoline as yet.While with gasoline engines such disturbance is never going to discomfort you.

Cold weather
All diesel vehicle owner know this major problem very well. It is hard to start in too cold days or region. But with gasoline it is quite easy even in cold weather. Diesels don’t have spark plugs like gas engines do, as the fuel is ignited once it’s injected into the cylinder that is already under pressure.When it gets cold, the air isn’t hot enough to
ignite the diesel fuel.

Maintenance
Gasoline engines have a bigger advantage due to extended service periods on spark plugs, engine oil, and even antifreeze. Whereas diesel vehicle’s maintenance is more expensive as one will need to change the oil at a told period and the fact that fuel filters and water separators must be serviced more often than gas vehicles.

With gasoline it runs smoother, availability of fuel is more and easy to start even in cold weather.On other hand, if you plan to tow, value good fuel economy and plan on racking up a lot of miles, then you’ll want to buy a diesel.

Diesel vehicles are a bit more expensive than gas as far as price is concerned. If you aren’t worried about price, then diesel may be your best bet.For trucks, diesel is by far the superior choice for those who like to haul heavy loads on a frequent basis.
